Framing Components for Sliding Doors


Use the following information will help with calculating component lengths.

TRACK POSITION = Top of Opening to Underside of Door Track: 75mm

DOOR HEIGHT “A”
Underside of door track to floor level less 75mm


DOOR WIDTH “B”
Width of opening plus 30mm (min) for
overlap each end (B+60mm total width
any number of doors on a single track)







EF4 PERIMETER FRAMING
Vertical Members (door sides) = Measurement “A” minus 65mm
Horizontal Members (top & bottom) = Measurement “B” minus 65mm
EB2 BACKING RAIL
Horizontal Cladding Braces = Measurement “B” minus 10mm
Fix at 1800mm (max) spacings when used with 0.49mm Trimdek or similar profile claddings

Carriage Mounting Blocks at least 100mm in length
Fix carriages 500mm (min) to 750mm (max) from door ends (Link to Carriages)
Door Push Rails – optional = approx 1000mm
Cladding Length = A – 70mm

  • Fitting of the Angle Braces at approx 45 degrees will give the correct
    positioning for the Carriage Mounting Blocks.
  • We recommend fitting a full length EB2 Horizontal Brace inserted to the
    bottom EF4 horizontal member to strengthen the bottom of the door frame.
  • Intermediate EB2 Horizontal Braces should be fitted at even spacings
    between top & bottom frame. Doors up to 2.6m high one only; 2.6 to 4.8m
    two braces; doors over 4.8m high minimum three braces.

Layout the door framing components ready for assembly as shown above, recessed side down.

Position the outer frame and slip top and bottom corner braces into place. Check frame height & width, and fasten with one tek screw in each corner. Square diagonals & fix with second tek screw to each corner.

Position the horizontal support rails evenly spaced (maximum 1800mm) apart. Fit tee braces in place and fix with one Tek screw only each.

Position vertical push rails as required and fix each with one tek screw only each end. Fit full length top and bottom internal supports in place. Fix the four corner braces with 2 Tek screws only as shown.

Drill mounting holes centrally in the full length top internal support and fit door carriages. Square all door sides and diagonals. Fix with Tek screws as shown; corner braces first, then tee braces, top and bottom internal supports and vertical push rails.

Turn over and check diagonals for square, tek screw each corner of the frame recess. Tek screw angle door guide to bottom door frame – blade in line with centre of carriage bolts. Fit cladding within the frame recess, Tek screw in valley to top and bottom frame & horizontal braces.
